Privacy Policy

Occrr Matrimony (“we”, “us”) helps adults find a life partner, inside Telegram (@OccrrMatrimony_bot) and as a web app. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who can see it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It is part of Occrr, which also runs Occrr Dating and Occrr Jobs.

What we collect

• Your account details: if you use Telegram, your Telegram user ID, username and language; if you sign in with Google, your Google account ID, email address and first name. This is the same Occrr account you may also use for Occrr Dating, Matrimony or Jobs, but each service keeps its own profile.
• Phone verification: when you share your phone number through Telegram, we keep a one-way fingerprint (a hash) of it to stop duplicate accounts, and the number itself in encrypted form. It is never shown on your profile. Only the Occrr team can view it, for safety, support and legal requests, and every view is recorded.
• Your matrimony profile: who created it (you, a parent, sibling, relative or friend), first and last name, gender, date of birth (only your age is shown), height, marital status, religion, community (optional), mother tongue, diet, education, profession, annual income as a range, city, family details (family type, parents' occupations, siblings, native place), a few lines about you, and photos.
• Partner preferences: the age, height, religion, marital status and location you are looking for.
• Activity: interests you send, receive, accept or decline, your shortlist, profiles you hide, blocks and reports, profile views, and when you were last active.
• Family helpers: if you invite a family member to help, we record who helps whom, their relation to you and their first name, and the profiles they suggest.
• Messages you send to people you are connected with. The Occrr team can access conversations to keep the service safe, for example to investigate reports, scams, safety problems or legal requests. Every access is recorded.
• Purchases: what you bought (Matrimony Premium), the amount and the payment reference. Payments are handled by Razorpay (website and app) or Telegram (Stars). We never see your full card, UPI or bank details.
• Technical information: error reports, your browser or device type, and messages you send to our support.

Religion and community are personal details. We use them only to show you matches that fit the preferences you set, and community is never used as a filter unless you share it. You can leave community empty.

How we use it

• To review your profile before it goes live. A person on our team checks every new profile to keep out fake ones.
• To show your profile to people whose preferences fit, and to show you profiles that fit yours.
• To deliver interests and messages, and to send you notifications through our Telegram bot.
• To keep the service safe: verifying accounts, reviewing reports, and removing fake profiles, scams and people who are not eligible.
• To provide Matrimony Premium and handle refunds.
• To fix problems and improve the service.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising by other companies.

What other people can see

• Approved members who can see your profile see your first name and the first letter of your last name, age, height, city, religion, community (if you added it), mother tongue, marital status, education, profession, income range, family details, about, who created the profile, and your verified badge.
• Your photos follow your setting: either everyone who can see your profile, or only people whose interest you accept (others see a blurred photo).
• People you are connected with (an interest was accepted on either side) can see your full last name and your photos, and can chat with you.
• Members with Matrimony Premium can see that you viewed their profile in the last 30 days.
• Family helpers you invite can see your matches and the profiles of people in them. They cannot see your messages, send interests for you, or see your phone number.
• Your phone number is never shown on your profile. It is shared only if you tap “Share my number” in a chat, and only with that person.

Where your information is stored

Your data is stored in a database hosted by Supabase in Mumbai, India. Photos are stored on Telegram's servers. The app runs on Cloudflare. Payments are handled by Razorpay and Telegram. These providers process data on our behalf.

How long we keep it

• Your profile, photos, interests, shortlist and chats are kept while your Matrimony profile exists.
• Encrypted backups of the database are kept for up to 14 days so we can recover from mistakes or outages.
• Error reports are deleted after 30 to 90 days.
• When you delete your Matrimony profile, we delete the profile, photos, interests, shortlist, helpers and chats. If you made purchases, we keep a minimal payment record as required for accounting.

Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile, change who can see your photos, or hide your profile at any time in the app.
• Delete your Matrimony profile yourself at any time: My profile → Delete my Matrimony profile. Your Occrr account and any other Occrr service you use stay as they are.
• Remove a family helper at any time: My profile → Family helpers.
• Ask for a copy of your information or a correction by messaging @OccrrMatrimony_bot.
• Withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your profile.
• Raise a complaint (grievance) with us through @OccrrMatrimony_bot. We aim to reply within 7 days.

Profiles made by family

If you create a profile for someone else, you confirm that they know about it and agree to it, and that the details are correct. They can ask us to change or delete it at any time.

Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections, access controls and secret keys that only our servers hold. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong Telegram password and two-step verification.

Age

Occrr Matrimony is only for adults of legal marriageable age in India: women 18 and over, men 21 and over. We remove profiles that don't meet this. Report one from the profile, or tell us through @OccrrMatrimony_bot.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app or through our bot before the change takes effect.
